Nkaissery meets Meru, Isiolo leaders over clashes

Uneasy calm has returned to Isiolo Town following Friday’s clashes between Meru and Borana youths.

Three people were injured and 10 others arrested over the chaos.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery visited the area and in currently in a meeting with leaders from Meru and Isiolo counties.

The CS is chairing the meeting at Gambela in Tigania East constituency.

Eastern Regional Commissioner Claire Omollo, Meru Governor Peter Munya and Isiolo Deputy Governor Mohammed Guleid are attending the meeting.

Other leaders in the meeting are MPs Joseph Samal (Isiolo North ), Mr Rahim Dawood (Imenti North), Mr Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Mr David Karithi (Tigania West), Mr Joseph M'Eruaki (Igembe North), Mr Kubai Kiringo (Igembe Central ) and Florence Kajuju (Meru Women Representative).

The two communities have engaged in a week-long clashes over the disputed Meru-Isiolo border, frequent insecurity due to cattle rustling and attacks on boda boda operators.
