Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka Mwangi says he is ready to work with his deputy, Mr Waithaka Mwangi Kirika, but called on leaders to cultivate respect for each other.

“I am ready to work with my deputy; I chose him to be my running mate without coercion, but leaders must cultivate the culture of respect for each other,” the governor said.

Speaking in Engineer Town during the disbursement of bursary cheques for needy students from eight wards in Kinangop Sub-County, the governor said he was willing to forge unity with all leaders to ensure the smooth implementation of development projects.

A total of Sh65 million will be distributed to needy students from all the 25 wards in the county during the 2015/2016 financial year.

The governor was accompanied by county executive committee members Peter Macharia (Education, Culture and Social Services), Julius Muthanwa (Roads and Public Works), Gitau Thabanja (Lands and Housing), Nderi Ndiani (Finance and Economic Planning) and Peter Gathimba (Tourism and Sports).

Several Members of the County Assembly led by Engineer MCA Mwangi Gichuki and Deputy Speaker Wambugu King’ori also attended the meeting held in Kanyugi Primary School grounds.

The governor was apparently responding to calls by local people to unite with his deputy ahead of the 2017 General Elections.

“Every family has its head and we cannot have two bosses inside one house. My view is that one must agree to be led if he or she ever hopes to lead,” said the governor.
