An ODM delegate in Ndhiwa was on Tuesday killed after she was run over by an ambulance.

Ms Rosa Adhiambo Okuta who was also an official of Maendeleo ya Wanawake, was knocked down by a hospital ambulance as she headed to a chaotic Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) election.

The death comes a day after another supporter of the party died.

Homa Bay county police boss John Omusanga said the official died on the spot.

Mr Omusanga added that another official at the Ndhiwa CDF office who had accompanied Ms Adhiambo also sustained fractures on her legs.

She was rushed to Ndhiwa Sub District Hospital for treatment while the body of the deceased was taken to Homa Bay Hospital mortuary.

Police had to fire several shots in the air to disperse violent youth as the ODM party elections in Homa bay entered the third day.

This is the second time police were intervening, having contained youth the same way on Monday.

Armed Administration Police officers (APs) intervened after a group of youth stormed a hall in the County Commissioner’s office and took away several documents.

Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma who had accompanied the youth claimed that the office was being used to rig the election.

A returning officer was beaten and his clothes torn before he was rescued by the APs.

On Tuesday evening, the fate of Wednesday’s elections was also thrown into disarray after majority of the eight branches conducted parallel elections.

There are fears of a confrontation during Wednesday’s exercise between Mr Kaluma and County Women MP Gladys Wanga’s supporters.

ODM commissioner Peter Odoyo in charge of Nyanza has been accused of messing up the exercise.

“We cannot accept this kind of conduct by Mr Odoyo who has deliberately decided to mess up the elections,” said a furious Kaluma.

Earlier, police were also forced to fire in the air at the Kendu Show ground following a disagreement over the list of delegates.

Several people sustained injuries as they attempted to flee from the scene.

In Kasipul, three parallel elections were held by various groups with one allied to area MP Joseph Oyugi Magwanga holding elections at St Joseph Combined Academy.

Another group allied to Kamagak East Ward representative Samwel Okumu held theirs at Agoron Sare Primary School with another supporting Mr Charles Were conducting the poll at a different venue.
