Hundreds of worshipers on Sunday turned up to witness the launching of a new Kirinyaga Anglican Diocese television station.

The station known as the Pillar was officially launched by the Anglican Archbishop Jackson ole Sapit at Kerugoya’s St Thomas Cathedral.

Speaking during the function, the Archbishop Sapit said the station will promote evangelism in the region and other parts of the country.

However, he cautioned against airing news that could incite Kenyans to violence.

"We want peace in our country and the media should focus on positive reporting," he said.

The excited worshipers cheered in joy as the Archbishop declared the station officially launched and promised to support it.

"We are happy because we now have our own TV station which will mostly focus on evangelism," said one of the worshipers.

The diocesan bishop, Reverend Joseph Kibuchwa told leaders to unite and work together for the sake of development.
