Four police officers and seven prisoners were injured in a road crash in Kapkatet, Kericho County, on Thursday.
The driver lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road and rolled over.
Rift Valley Police Regional Coordinator Gideon Amalla said the police vehicle was ferrying the seven prisoners from Kericho to the Sotik Law Courts.
He said the driver of the police vehicle lost control as he drove past a lorry that was heading in the opposite direction on a narrow section of the road.
He denied claims that two prisoners escaped.
“All of them were injured and no prisoner escaped,” said Mr Amalla.
The police vehicle was extensively damaged.
