Residents put out fire in St Mary's Girls School

A dormitory in St Mary’s Girls Secondary School in Narok County went up in flames Sunday.

Students in the Catholic-sponsored institution were in class for their afternoon preps when the incident occurred. No injuries were reported in the disaster that started at 3pm.

Narok Deputy Police Boss Charles Ouma said police will commence investigations.

Principal Margaret Liaram said the facility had a capacity of 60.

Residents used water from boozers belonging to a Chinese road construction company, since there were no firefighters.

The fire occurred two days after a dormitory at Sister Mary Stephen Nkoitoi Secondary School was razed.

Narok county police commander Jilo Galgalo said the situation in schools across the country was getting out of hand.

“We are becoming worried that students might not be involved in this, we suspect outside forces,” he said.
