Residents storm governor’s office

Residents in Kakamega town Monday stormed Governor Wycliffe Oparanya’s offices demanding his attention over insecurity.

Carrying twigs, the protesters marched to the governor’s office after the body of a six-year-old girl was found dumped in a trench at a residential estate in Kakamega Town.

Faith Aunty had been missing since Sunday evening. She was last seen playing with other children in the estate.
Three killings

It is the third time in six months that a girl has been killed. The first case was reported in March, while in July, a 12-year-old girl’s body was found dismembered.

In the latest case, a police officer said the victim’s neck had marks that suggested she may have been strangled. Mr Evans Barabara, her father, said her playmates saw a shabbily dressed man who lured her.

Mr Oparanya visited the scene and later met county security chiefs. “I want to have this matter conclusively addressed by police so that those behind the bizarre killings are arrested to face the law,” he said.
