Deputy President William Ruto has dismissed the Opposition as losers and urged Malindi residents to vote for Jubilee candidate and reap the fruits of being in government.

While he made stopovers in towns in the constituency as his over 100-car-convoy snaked through, Mr Ruto told the residents that the Jubilee administration had decided to include rebel ODM MP Gideon Mung’aro in its decision making organ.

Mr Ruto added that President Uhuru Kenyatta had agreed to sit with Mr Mung’aro and chat the way forward for the coastal region.

He said they were now looking for another person to assist Mr Munga’ro urging them to offer Mr Philip Charo as that person by electing him as their MP in the March by-election.

From Mere to Majengo and through towns, Mr Ruto addressed Mr Charo’s supporters clad in red t-shirts and waving placards with his name and chanting slogans in his support.

“Jubilee will be number one while ODM will emerge number four. The winning ratio at the moment stands at Jubilee’s Philip Charo 30,000 votes while ODM’s William Mtengo 500 votes,” said Kilifi North MP Gideon Munga’aro who is leading Mr Charo’s campaign team.

The DP dismissed ODM whose candidate is Mr William Mtengo saying they had no chance of forming the government "because their popularity was dwindling”.

Mr Ruto told Mere residents that their quest for development will only be achieved if they vote for Mr Charo.

“In 2013 you voted for ODM because you thought it would form the government. That did not happen and the same is just in the offing. So vote for a person who will be obviously in the government,” said he.

The government, he said, had targeted the recruitment of 6,000 youth from Kilifi County into the National Youth Service.

“The tarmacking of the 100 Km Malindi-Sala gate road will start this week and the recruitment of youth to join the NYS service will be implemented until we reach the targeted number of 6,000 youths in the county,” he said.

Mr Ruto told the ODM to prepare for a defeat in the March 7 by-election because the ground had shifted in favour of Jubilee candidate Mr Charo.

“Let those ODM officials thinking that they will win the seat go back to their drawing board. Jubilee will definitely win this seat because the people have spoken,” said the Deputy President.

Mr Ruto was accompanied by other Jubilee politicians including Leader of Majority in the National Assembly Aden Duale and Nairobi senator Mike Sonko.

“We will stand guard to make sure that ODM does not steal votes and to my humble request, don’t vote for ODM which has nothing to offer to you,” said Mr Duale.

Other leaders who spoke included Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, and MP Khatib Mwashetani.
