Embu Senator Lenny Kivuti has criticised Cord’s protest against Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission top officials saying the move could spark unrest countrywide.

He said removal of IEBC commissioners would derail preparations for 2017 polls.

“We are thankful to God the way Kenya has been peaceful. We do not wish the country to plunge into turmoil again,” said Mr Kivuti.

He was speaking at Umau Stadium in Mbeere South sub-county during a free medical camp on Monday.

The Senator challenged Cord to list complaints they have against individual IEBC commissioners for appropriate legal action to be taken.

"Anyone who has evidence against any IEBC official who has done something wrong should come forward,” said Mr Kivuti.

He accused Cord of sensing defeat ahead of the next general elections.

“Those against IEBC (commissioners) should start their campaigns early," he said.
