Gichugu MP Njogu Barua has commissioned a Sh22 million dormitory project at St Anne's Gituba Girls Secondary School.

It will be built using money from the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and will take six months to complete.

Mr Barua on Tuesday told parents and teachers at the school that enough money had been allocated for the project.

The dormitory, which is to be a multi-storey building, will accommodate 160 students.

The school, which is located in the remote Ngariama Ward, lacks enough space to accommodate the students.

Existing dormitories were constructed in the 1960s and are dilapidated.

The school is the oldest in the region.
