Strathmore forms committee to probe deadly drill

Strathmore University council has appointed an 11-member independent team to investigate a drill that left one worker dead and more than 30 students and workers injured on November 30.

Vice Chancellor Prof John Odhiambo said the committee has seven days to make its recommendation and has since started its work.

“The Strathmore University council has appointed an independent committee of respected professions to investigate the circumstances leading to the decision to execute the drill on November 30,” said Prof Odhiambo.

The terms of reference are to determine how the drill and simulation was prepared and who was involved in the preparation (both internally and externally).

It will be chaired by Col (Rtd) Hillary Kioko who will be deputised by Catherine Mumma.
