The suspect was among five people arraigned in court for stealing and handling stolen property worth Sh700,000 allegedly taken from a home in the Redhill area in Limuru, Kiambu County.

The man, identified as Peter Njoroge, ran away, ignoring police orders to stop and gunshots fired in the air.

Limuru resident magistrate Nancy Makau said that court was in session when the suspect escaped and they were forced to stop proceedings temporarily after the gunshots were fired.
