Two die in grisly Nakuru-Eldoret road accident

Two people were killed on Tuesday after an accident involving five vehicles along the Nakuru-Eldoret road.

This year alone, 31 accidents have been reported on the Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret highway, claiming close to 80 lives. (READ: Nairobi-Nakuru highway among world’s deadliest)

The incident which occurred at 12pm at Cheptiret Junction along the Eldoret- Nakuru left five other people seriously injured.

Three trucks collided with one salon car and a Toyota Prado.

According to an eye witness, the trucks travelling from Nakuru tried to overtake each other but collided with an oncoming truck.

The salon car was smashed by the two trucks while the driver of the Toyota Prado veered off the road.

LOST CONTROL

Eldoret West Traffic Base Commandant Humphrey Abayi said:

“We are suspecting that the driver of the truck which was ahead of the other might have lost control of his vehicle.”

Those injured were rushed to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret Town.

The Traffic Police boss urged drivers and other road users to exercise caution while travelling.

11 people were recently killed and one other injured after the 12-seater matatu they were travelling in collided with a lorry at Kware area, Eldama Ravine along the the same road. (READ: 11 die in road accident on Easter eve)
