Two other people linked to a car bomb explosion at the Pangani Police Station in Nairobi have been arrested, a court heard Tuesday.

Mr Omar Abdulla Hussein and Mr Abubakar Mohammed Yunis, were allegedly involved in the April 23 explosion that killed two officers and two terrorists.

Prosecutor Duncan Ondimu said they may be enjoined in a case facing Mr Dugal Ali, the car owner which exploded at the station gate.

Mr Dugal has been charged with offering shelter to one of the terrorists who died in the attack and offering his car for use in a terrorist act.

He faces a maximum 50 years in prison if convicted.

On Tuesday, the prosecutor said he had fresh evidence, which can only be given in camera, linking the suspects to terrorism.

“There is great public anger in relation to explosions in the country, more so the Pangani Police Station blast that caused the death of two police officers,” he said.

The prosecutor said the blast caused great fear among the public since, for the first time, terrorists seemed to target law enforcers, who the public rely on for protection.

Mr Ondimu said there was information that at the time of the attack, more attacks were being planned by the suspects and the evidence could only be shown behind closed doors.

TESTIFY ON OATH
‘The investigation officer can testify on oath in camera to show the extent of their involvement,” Mr Odimu said.

The prosecutor was addressing the court during submissions for the cancellation of bail for Mr Dugal.

He said new information had come in that was not available when Mr Dugal was released on bail.

Mr Dugal is detained at the Kamiti maximum jail pending the hearing and determination of his case after he failed to raise Sh8 million bail.
