Two Nakuru MPs on Monday claimed that two members of the county executive committee used fake degree certificates to secure the positions to secure the positions.

Mr Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati) and Mr David Gikaria (Nakuru East) said the two executive members were not fit to hold office.

“We are taking these documents to the Criminal Investigations Department so that they can start investigating the case because these two officers should be in jail by now,” said Mr Ngunjiri.
They spoke during a press conference in Nakuru town.

At the same time, the lawmakers urged Governor Kinuthia Mbugua to lead the war on corruption by making sure that the two officers are suspended pending investigations.

The documents made available to the media showed that one of the executive members used forged documents from the University of Brunel, a London-based institution, and presented them as genuine.

FAILURE TO VERIFY

Mr Ngunjiri criticised the county’s appointments committee over failure to verify the papers before the two were hired.

“We shall not allow Nakuru County to be led by ministers with fake degrees.

“We are now calling on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate all the appointments at the executive level,” said Mr Ngunjiri.

“Our governor should not keep quiet when such senior officers in the county government used forged documents. If he keeps quiet, we shall ensure he is sacked,” he added.
