Water cabinet secretary Eugene Wamalwa’s bid for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat got a boost on Sunday after a youth full politician rallied his peers in supporting the former Saboti Mp.

Speaking at a funeral on Saturday in Matili, Kimilili constituency, Moses Nandalwe who is eyeing the Sirisia seat on an ODM ticket, said he had decided to support the Jubilee candidate over ODM’s Evans Kidero because the incumbent had sidelined members of the Luhya community from top county jobs.

At the same time, he urged his former party leader Moses Wetang’ula to support ODM’s Raila Odinga for the presidency.

The Bungoma county politician who made a name when he served as a university student’s leader, said he also supports Joseph Waswa who is eyeing to replace Mr Wetang’ula as Bungoma senator.

“In case Eugene Wamalwa is supported by other communities to go for the Nairobi seat, let the Luhya community rally behind one of their own to run the city,” he said.

“We cannot fail our own just because he is jubilee. I agree that the jubilee administration has failed Kenyans but let's consider an individual in this case,” he said.

He said Mr Wamalwa had also distinguished himself as a leader not driven with selfish desire and commended him for not joining the crowded list of Luhyas who have declared interest in the presidency.

He took a swipe at Nairobi senator for storming a rally that was to be addressed by Mr Wamalwa among other leaders in Nairobi and disrupted it sending people away.

“It will be betrayal for me as a youth not to support another youthful leader,” he said.

Mr Nandwale decamped from Ford Kenya to ODM recently and was received by party leader Raila Odinga and Chairman John Mbadi among other leaders at Orange House.

Currently, rebellious MP John Waluke is the constituency’s lawmaker.
