Three Nyanza county ministers for health have raised concern over the low turn out of patients visiting public hospitals despite end of doctors’ strike.

They said most of the wards remain deserted.

Dr Elizabeth Ogaja Kisumu health minister, Maurice K’Otengo, (Homa Bay) and Olango Onudi (Siaya) called on residents to visit the hospitals for treatment.

“I am worried that the maternity wing in most hospitals in the county are unoccupied despite them being fully operational. It is usually the busiest ward in hospitals,” said Dr Ogaja.

“Doctors are more than patients in the wards. We must be concerned where the public is getting treatment,” said Dr Onudi.

Dr Onudi said there is need for an awareness campaign to inform the public that doctors are back to work.
