Water truck crushes teen to death in Marsabit Town

A teenager died Saturday evening as he attempted to hang on a moving water truck in Marsabit Town.

Acting Marsabit Central police chief John Kwasa said the 16-year-old was crushed to death by the rear tyre after slipping.

Mr Kwasa said the driver of the lorry who reported the matter was in police custody.

Mr Nura Juma, a witness, said the driver learnt of the death later.

“He had earlier asked the deceased to alight from the lorry but he refused. A few minutes later, we found his lifeless body on the road at about 10pm.

“We then informed the driver who had travelled for a distance of about 500 metres from the scene,” Mr Juma said.

The body was taken to the Marsabit District Hospital mortuary.

Mr Kwasa asked pedestrians to observe traffic rules.
