Speaking to the Nation on Tuesday, Voi Equity Bank Manager Liverson Mghendi said more than 50 per cent of beneficiaries were performing below expectation.

“We give the students 100 per cent sponsorship and we expect a mean grade of B+ and above from them,” Mr Mghendi said.

More than 200 students from the county are beneficiaries. According to Mr Mghendi, almost half the number was registering C+ and below.

The chairman of the committee, Kennedy Machora, said indiscipline among the beneficiaries would not be tolerated.

He said they had received complaints from teachers and schools about some students.

Mr Machora added that the committee would convene a meeting with the beneficiaries in August to find out and review the challenges they faced at home and school.
