The woman was arrested by a chief after failing to explain how she got a three-month-old baby boy and yet she had not been pregnant.

Children’s Officer Jane Kinuthia said the woman had explained that she found the child abandoned at a sawmill at Makomboki Village in Murang’a County and picked it up.

She said the woman who has never had children of her own, had even named the child.

She said the suspect had told the police that she was visiting her husband who works in the village when she heard a child crying and went to check.

Ms Kinuthia said they were treating the toddler as either lost or a victim of child trafficking and were searching for his parents.
