Youth join NYS to fight unemployment

Hundreds of youth on Friday flocked to the Malindi deputy county commissioner’s offices to register for the National Youth Service jobs.
The national government intends to enroll 1,350 jobless youths in Malindi town, Shella, Kakuyuni, Jilore, Ganda and Langobaya wards, in Kilifi County.
This comes two weeks after the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Youth and Gender Sicily Kariuki visited the area and assured residents of NYS jobs.
Ms Kariuki said NYS personnel would be deployed this month to assist in the fight against drug abuse in Malindi constituency.
Malindi assistant County Commissioner Elizabeth Ngige said 600 youth in Malindi town and Shella ward would be recruited.
“They will also enroll 300 in Ganda, 200 in Kakuyuni and 250 youths in both Jilore and Langobaya wards,” he told Nation in his office.
Ms Ngige urged youth between 18 to 35 years to use the opportunity and turn up for the two-day recruitment.
Ms Kariuki had said the youths would start work on February 29 in Malindi constituency.
