Police searching for driver after lorry rams into 14 cars on Nairobi-Nakuru road

Police in Kiambu County are searching for the driver of a lorry that rammed into 14 vehicles along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway on Thursday.

The accident that occurred around 730am at Rungiri near Kikuyu town left several people injured.

According to Kikuyu OCPD Mutune Maweo, three vehicles collided in an earlier accident on forcing other motorists to slow down.

“When the first accident occurred, vehicles slowed down but the trailer rammed into them from behind,” said Mr Maweo.

TRAFFIC SNARL-UP

Witnesses said the accident caused a huge traffic snarl-up along the busy highway.

“I had just seen the first accident which involved three vehicles a few meters from here when I saw the truck hit a small vehicle and drag it for a short distance and as the other drivers panicked and attempted to escape, the vehicles rammed onto each other,” said a witness Mr Joseph Kariuki.

Police are now searching for the driver who disappeared after the incident.
