  • It also emerged that Limuru MP John Kiragu had promised to have the late Karinga fitted deceased with artificial teeth.

A man told his friend to attend his burial dressed as a woman and asked another to light candles as his casket is lowered into his grave.

Thomas Karinga, who died after an alcohol drinking contest at a local bar, also demanded that his MP replace his missing teeth.

Angry young men from Limuru ambushed area MP John Kiragu saying that they knew the people selling illicit alcohol in Limuru.
They said that they are ready to name and shame the police officers and administrators protecting them.

Led by John Kamau, the youth told the MP that they are tired of burying people because of alcohol-related deaths.

The MP was surrounded by nearly 50 youths during the burial of Mr Karinga at the Limuru public cemetery on Tuesday.
He died after gulping three bottles of 250ml of Meakins Spirit.

Mr Kiragu, who struggled to calm them down, said that the youths should not feel threatened by the so-called powerful men selling illicit drinks.

“Do not fear sharing this information with me. I am your leader and I am also tired (of) the alcohol-related deaths in this area. Tell me who is involved in this illegal business anytime and anywhere you meet with me,” said Mr Kiragu.

The MP also warned the youth against excessive consumption of alcohol or drinking unlicensed drinks, saying the practice was giving Limuru a bad name because of the frequent reports of alcohol-related deaths in the area.

There was drama at the burial as demands made by Mr Karinga before he died were revealed.

Mr Karinga had made several demands to be fulfilled by various people once he died, including the MP, Mr Kiragu.

It emerged that Mr Kiragu had promised to have Mr Karinga fitted with artificial teeth, but he died before the procedure could be carried out.

The MP promised to help Mr Karinga’s parents as a way of compensating for the unfulfilled promise.

“Mr Karinga was my friend and recently we were with him and we joked about me fitting him with artificial teeth. I am saddened by his sudden death and will support his parents because I never managed to have him fitted with the teeth when he was alive,” said Mr Kiragu.
