Two people died on Monday and a schoolgirl was critically injured in an early morning accident on the Iten-Kapsowar road in Elgeyo-Marakwet.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that the accident happened when a speeding boda boda rammed into a matatu, which was also speeding.
Marakwet West OCPD Apolo Onyonyi confirmed the incident that claimed the lives of the boda boda rider and his passenger.
Another passenger was injured.
"It was around 7.50am and the accident occurred near Cheptongei trading centre.
“The boda boda rider died on the spot and the second victim died on his way to hospital," said the OCPD.
The schoolgirl, who was also a passenger on the motorbike, suffered leg injuries and was taken to AIC Kapsowar Mission Hospital.
