Former minister Biwott castigates social media rumours of his ‘death’

Former powerful Cabinet minister Nicholas Biwott has castigated users of social media who had repeatedly peddled lies that he was dead.
A jovial Mr Biwott Saturday addressed journalists twice at an Eldoret’s exclusive members club and later at Kipsaos Boys Secondary School where he had attended a wedding ceremony.
The former Keiyo South MP was irked by the “false and malicious posts” that appeared on various social sites including popular local television’s social media post.
“I am fine and in good health,” said Biwott who flanked by his aide William Chepkut, Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Keiyo South MP Jackson Kiptanui.
Mr Biwott asked the public to shun and ignore the unfortunate rumours, saying they were spread by evil people whom he said were abusing the freedom brought about by social media.
He did not, however, say whether he would take any legal action against those making the false claims.
In a move seen as meant to dispel the false rumours, Senator Murkomen, on his Twitter handle, was quick to post a picture of Mr Biwott having lunch with him on Saturday and wrote that he was happy to meet the “Total Man” at home.
Mr Biwott, the leader of the National Vision Party (NVP), recently declared that his party would support the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
