Officer dies, three injured after poll vehicle rolls in Garissa

One police officer has died while three others have been injured after the vehicle they were traveling in rolled while they were on their way to Balambala to provide security in the repeat presidential election.

Confirming the incident, Garissa OCPD Aron Moriase said the officers were escorting presidential election materials from Garissa Town when the vehicle rolled at Abdisamit.

According to the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle before it rolled several times killing one officer on the spot and injuring others.

The Garissa police boss said the injured officers were taken to Garissa Referral Hospital.

The repeat presidential election is expected to kick off countrywide at 6am Thursday with hundreds of police officers sent to provide security.
