Death of boda boda rider sparks chaos in Isiolo Town

Chaos has erupted in Isiolo Town after a section of youths and boda boda riders protested over the killing of motorcycle rider whose body was found in Kiwanjani Saturday morning.

The angry protesters who took the streets on learning of the death, barricaded the Isiolo-Marsabit highway with some stoning vehicles and looting properties.

Police were forced to shoot in the air to disperse the protesters.

Vehicles were stoned and some people were beaten up in town before police arrived.

Business was paralysed as traders closed their shops with hawkers being forced to salvage what they could as they fled.

Tension remained high in the town and parts of Isiolo market which was deserted for some time.

The deceased was found dead in the morning and his motorcycle stolen.

Police are conducting patrols to calm the situation.
