Chief Officers in Kajiado County can breathe easy after Joseph ole Lenku, the new governor, extended their contracts by another three months.

This is a significant departure from other counties where new governors have either suspended or sacked officials who served under their predecessors.

Contracts for the 11 Chief Officers were set to expire at the end of August.

The former Security CS also paved the way for the chief officers, who served under Dr David Nkedianye, to apply for those positions once they are advertised.

“We are one county and one people, we cant bring the county operations to a halt all over a sudden, we are going to advertise for those positions and as the process continues this will be done in line with the recruitment law,” said Mr Ole Lenku.

Mr ole Lenku who spoke at meeting with the budget making department at the county government, said key offices cannot remain vacant until the process of advertisement, vetting and recruitment takes place.

“We need to continue serving the public for better service delivery, reasons why I have asked for those officers to continue with their service,” he added.
