Thika Town MP Alice Ng’ang’a has vowed to continue the protest against the new county levies.

On Tuesday, she was summoned by criminal investigations officers to record a statement over claims that she incited traders to demonstrate over the levies.

“I refuse to be intimidated by anyone and as long as the county government continues to impose unreasonable charges and taxes on my people, I will organise an even bigger demonstration,” she said.

The MP, who was accompanied by five colleagues and her advocate Mbiyu Kamau, added that she was unapologetic on her stand and the governor should “listen to the people.”

DICTATE TERMS

“Leaders should not get personal; when I oppose the county levies I am not attacking the governor in person?” she said.

Mr Kigo Njenga (Gatundu North) echoed her sentiments saying that Kiambu residents would not allow anyone to dictate terms for them and the county government should toe their line or be dissolved.

The leaders later marched through the town streets and addressed a rally near the Christina Wangari Gardens.
