Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici have reconciled and vowed to work together to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.

The two leaders announced that they would traverse the region to drum support for the Head of State.

They spoke at Roswam Hotel in Kerugoya town Monday evening during the launch of region’s presidential campaigns.

"We have set aside our differences and resolved to work together to ensure that President Kenyatta bags all the votes from the region," said Ms Waiguru.

DISRESPECT

They said their differences could have an impact of President Kenyatta’s re-election bid in the region.

"We have decided to unite so that we can mobilise all the 351,000 voters from the county to vote for President Kenyatta," said Ms Ngirici.

The two were emphatic that there was no need of fighting among themselves when President Kenyatta was hard pressed by the National Super Alliance

"National Super Alliance leaders are campaigning vigorously for their candidate Raila Odinga but all is not well among Jubilee leaders. That is why we have decided to come together to support the President," the Woman Rep said.

In August, Ms Ngirici skipped Ms Waiguru's inauguration ceremony held at Kirinyaga University accusing the governor of disrespect.

RALLY

Ms Ngirici insisted that she was the one who organised a big rally for Waiguru in Kerugoya when she declared interest to vie for the coveted seat and even campaigned for her but the governor failed to recognise her.

She said she failed to show up at Ms Waiguru’s ceremony because she was not invited.

The two leaders said they would involve former governor Joseph Ndathi in the campaigns.

Mr Ndathi said that he was happy that all leaders were now united for development.

“There should be no more wrangling among leaders. We shall use our resources to campaign for President Kenyatta,” said Mr Ndathi.

Leaders, who attended the launch of the presidential campaigns in Kirinyaga include MPs Munene Wambugu (Kirinyaga Central), Gichimu Githinji (Gichugu), Kabinga Wathayu (Mwea) and George Kariuki (Ndia) as well as Senator Charles Kibiru.
