NYS projects to be revived, Uhuru tells Kisumu youth

President Uhuru Kenyatta has promised youth in Kisumu that the Nation Youth Services (NYS) projects which had stopped will be revived.

The President who, was speaking in the town’s Ubunga slums on Sunday morning, said the project will help youth earn income and help in nation building.

“The projects will continue after one month to help our youth with income,” said the President following a request by Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura.

President Kenyatta is in Kisumu for a Seventh-day Adventist Church event.

Security was tight in Kisumu ahead of his arrival in the lakeside city.

The VIP arrivals section at the airport terminal was a no-go zone with officers instructed to give access only to elected leaders.

Hordes of people thronged at the airport as they waited for the President.

Several leaders, among them members of boards of parastatals, who had arrived at the airport expressed disappointment over the tough security measures.

Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma led residents to welcome the President to the county.

This is the President’s sixth visit to Kisumu since his election in 2013.

In the past, residents have always given him rousing welcome.
