Thousands expected at Owuor’s Kisumu New Year prayer rally

Major hotels in Kisumu city have been fully booked ahead of a three day prayer meeting to be presided over by self-proclaimed prophet David Owuor.

Pastor Gilbert Kimutai of the Kisumu Alter of the Repentance and Holiness Church said they are expecting over 600 international guests besides thousands of Kenyans expected to travel to the lakeside city for the New Year prayers from December 28.

Owour’s followers are working tireless to make the Kibos prayer grounds accessible by the expected Christians. Roads to the venue will be swept a day before the prayers start.

“Healing has been brought right at our doorstep and we are so happy that the people of this area are going to be saved,” said pastor Maxwell of the Car Wash alter, and a resident of Kibos.

Pastor Otieno said Kibos area has had a history of insecurity “but the coming of the prophet to this grounds will change the people and we know many are going to be saved during the prayers.”

Prophet Owuor visit to Kisumu is treated as a “home coming” owing to his Nyanza roots.

“Many people from this region were healed during the prophet’s prayer meeting in Eldoret, they therefore yearn to see him again,” said Pastor Otieno.
