Eight secondary school students were arrested when they were allegedly found having a sex orgy in a house in Lolwe estate, Kisumu, on Thursday.

Among them were five girls from Rangala Secondary School in Siaya County. Three boys from Ngere High School, Kisumu Boys and Nyamasaria Secondary School were also seized.

A father, who did not want to be named, said a friend had spotted his daughter in town in the company of other young people.

“I was worried. I started investigating the matter privately and learnt that some underage girls had been seen in a house (in) Lolwe estate,” he said.

Another parent said she had gone to visit her daughter at Rangala only to learn from the school's principal that she had not reported to school since the teachers called off their strike.

“The principal said 30 students had not reported to school. We don’t know why these girls are hiding,” she said.

WORRYING TREND

Officers from the Kondele Police Station arrested the students following a tip-off from the public. The students are believed to have been hiding in the house for the past one week.

The teenagers are alleged to have been locking themselves up in the house during the day and going out to local clubs at night.

Although the owner of the house is yet to be identified, the man has been linked to money laundering in Kisumu.

Distraught parents, whose children were not in school, went to the station with the hope of finding them.

Cases of students’ indulging in sex and alcohol are becoming a worrying trend.

On Monday, 550 students, most of them minors, were arrested in a sex, alcohol and drugs party in a basement disco in Eldoret Town.

This came barely two months after another 40 students from Nyeri were arrested in a Nairobi-bound bus for similar reasons. The bus was ferrying them home from school.
