Two prosecutors arrested in Kisumu over graft

Two prosecutors in Kisumu County were on Tuesday arrested by anti-corruption officials for allegedly soliciting for a Sh15, 000 bribe.
Mr Herbert Okumu and Mr Jared Ruto were arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officials in their offices.
They were taken to Railway Police Station where they were released on a police bond of Sh20, 000 each.
Mr Edwin Waudo, the EACC western Kenya regional head confirmed the arrest saying the two had demanded the bribe to restore a case that had been closed by police.
Mr Waudo said the case was recommended for closure by the police but the prosecutors lied to the complainant that it could be reopened if he gave them Sh15, 000.
The two are expected to appear before the Homa Bay Anti-Corruption court on September 9.
