Police in Kwale have arrested four suspects and recovered 33 digital tablets and nine laptops that were stolen from Mwena Primary School.

The recovered items are some of the 95 tablets and laptops stolen from the school last month.

Lunga Lunga OCPD Charles Ouma said the tablets and other accessories were found in Mwena, Kibarani and Likoni in Kwale and Mombasa counties.

Speaking to the Nation by phone on Monday, the police boss said the four suspects are assisting the police with investigations.

Mr Ouma said the suspects had tried to deface the government-branded tablets.

“The tablets have government logos and flags, so it was difficult for them to sell after their attempt to deface them failed,” he said.

The tablets were for the digital learning programme, which started in November last year as part of the Jubilee government's promise and is being implemented countrywide.
