It is expected that after completion, the facility will be a medical hub serving neighbouring counties of Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit.

Governor Ali Roba toured the facility on Saturday and said it will help Mandera County improve medical services to residents.

“The construction of the two facilities is in the final stages and will be operational 24 hours once opened,” he said.

The new modern emergency facility is being constructed at a cost of Ksh200 million while the maternity wing will cost Sh64 million.

The emergency centre will have intensive care and high dependency units.

He said they expect the construction to be completed in three months.

Mandera East MP and a former Deputy Governor Omar Mohamed Maalim lauded the project and pledged push the national government to equip the facility.
