3 family members perish in road accident

Three family members died in a car crash today evening.
The family was heading to Meru to attend a funeral when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with another.
OCPD Charles Koskey said the 6pm accident occurred at Mutiotikirira along Meru-Maua road.
Two others who were injured were taken to Tigania Mission Hospital before being referred to Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital.
The family members were in a hearse that was carrying the remains of their kin. The burial was to be held in Nkinyang'a village.
"The hearse, a Toyota Voxy that was headed to Maua collided with a Toyota Landcruiser that was going to Meru. The hearse driver was trying to overtake," said Mr Duncan Waweru, an eyewitness.
