Tharaka MP Mburi Muiru has faulted governors for supporting scrapping of National government Constituency Development Fund.

Speaking at Mariango Primary School in Tharaka-North on Tuesday, Mr Muiru said governors should support CDF since it has changed lives of poor people in rural areas.

He said governors are being selfish in seeking to abolish CDF since they cannot account for billions of devolved funds.

“CDF funded projects can be seen in the villages but nothing big has been achieved with the billions channelled to counties. CDF has made a lot of positive change across the country especially in education and roads,” said Mr Muiru.

He said most of the governors are being questioned on how they spent billions allocated to them in the last three years.

The MP issued a total of Sh8.4 million to schools in Tharaka-North Sub County for infrastructure.
