Meru to host county Miss Tourism competition on Saturday

Meru’s most beautiful lady will be determined on Saturday as the county hosts the Miss Tourism contest.

The county’s tourism chief officer Dennis Kinoti said the finals will be held at Gatimene Gardens in Meru Town ahead of a night-long entertainment.

The winner of the beauty pageant is to represent the county in this year’s Miss Tourism national competition set for Vihiga County next week to determine the country’s best beauty.

Mr Kinoti who urged the residents to turn up in large numbers for the finals at Gatimene said the event was crucial in promoting tourism.

“This is the third edition of the pageant. The contestants who were drawn from all the sub-counties have already completed their auditions. Eighteen were picked for training. Eliminations have been ongoing and nine to 11 girls will feature in the finals,” Mr Kinoti told the Nation by phone.

The contestants will seek to outdo each other in official, traditional, creative and evening wear.

The winner is to bag Sh75,000 while the first runners-up and second will bag Sh50,000 and Sh25,000 each.

MC Jessy of Churchill live, Amos and Josh and DJ Pierra Makena are among those slated to feature at the event.

Other local and national artists are to also showcase their talents.
