One-month-old abandoned baby boy finds new home

A one-month-old baby who found dumped in Meru on Saturday has been placed under the care of a local woman.

Muringene location chief Hezekiah Rwito said Ms Eunice Karimi who discovered the baby on the roadside has assumed responsibility of taking care of the baby boy after reporting the incident to local police.

“We reported at Muringene Police Station and I told Ms Karimi to take care of the baby before following the required legal procedure,” chief Rwito said.

On Thursday, the chief and other residents visited the baby who has since been named Musa and donated clothes and other materials. The chief donated Sh10,000 towards the child’s upkeep.

He added: “I thank the members of public and particularly Ms Karimi who has accepted an added responsibility.  Before we seek help from other corners, we should do what we can so that we can also be blessed.”

Chief Rwito called on the residents to help identify the person who dumped the baby and report to him or any other police station for legal action to be taken.
