There are more than 30,000 uncollected national identity cards in Meru County, County Commissioner Wilfred Nyagwang'a has said.

According to Mr Nyagwang'a, residents have failed to collect the documents despite government efforts to get them to do so.

Speaking at Meru National Polytechnic during Mashujaa Day celebrations, Mr Nyagwang'a said the IDs would be taken to sub-locations for the owners to collect them.

“We have announced that people should pick up their IDs, but it seems most of them are not doing so. We will be moving around issuing them to the owners. Let those who applied collect them," he said.
