Two dead after consuming traditional brew in Meru

Two people died after consuming traditional brew in Kiorimba, Meru County.

Two other men, including an assistant chief, are being treated at Chaaria Hospital in Central Imenti after they drank the brew.

A 10-year-old boy was also hospitalised after sipping his grandfather's drink.

According to Tigania West Deputy County Commissioner Stephen Kavulu, the traditional brew had been prepared for a wedding ceremony.

He said police are investigating whether the food and drink were poisoned.

“We have taken (food and drink) samples for further investigations,” Mr Kavulu said on phone.
