Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nomination exercise in Migori County failed to kick off at 6am in most polling stations due to lack of ballot materials.

By 7.30am, there were long queues of voters in various polling stations in the eight sub-counties waiting to cast their votes.

At Oruba Primary polling station in Suna West constituency, the presiding officer Boniface Ochieng said he did not know what had caused the delay.

"My colleagues in other centres are also shocked because we had been assured that voting would start by 6am. Let's continue waiting," he said.

But anxious ODM supporters warned the party officials that they will not accept to participate in the exercise if it begins very late.

"Because many people shall have returned home before voting," said Mr Peter Otieno.

At the Migori Primary School, voting began late after the arrival of the materials.
