A Standard Seven boy who stabbed his classmate with a knife on Friday is under the custody of the police, Mombasa Urban Police boss Martin Asin has said.

Mr Asin said that the 14-year-old boy was arrested the same night he reportedly committed the crime.

He said police are now waiting for the Sparki Primary School head teacher and the victim’s class teacher to explain what conspired.

“The boy is under our watch and we are still investigating the matter. We need to know what made the suspect to attack his colleague. It might even have happened accidently, they are young and we don’t want to imply that the boy is a criminal,” said Mr Asin.

The victim’s mother, said her son was recuperating at their home but did not manage to go to school.

Her 12-year old son, also a Standard Seven pupil, was admitted at the Mombasa Hospital with the knife stuck on his left wrist.

She said she reported the case to Makupa Police Station and was given a P3 form asking the suspect’s parents to clear the hospital bill.

“The boy has been discharged and what is remaining is the Sh70, 000 hospital bill which the attacker must pay. We are following the matter to ensure that the hospital bill is settled,” said the mother.

The boy was reportedly stabbed on his left wrist on Friday last week when pupils were heading home after evening prep.

The attacker ran away, leaving his victim with the knife stuck deep in his wrist.
