A chef was on Monday sentenced to death for murdering his fiancee, a police officer.
Abduba Guyo Wada, 34, was handed the sentence three days after being convicted of killing Constable Milga Abdullah in Mombasa two years ago.
The offence was committed at the police quarters of the Dog Section in Kisauni.
“Our reading of the law is that murder, treason and robbery with violence attract the mandatory death sentence,” said Justice Martin Muya.
The victim’s mother, Mrs Muslima Talisma Guyo, welcomed the verdict.
The tearful woman said justice had been served at last.
"We praise the judge for sentencing the killer to death,” she said.
