Nyumba Kumi Chairman Joseph Kaguthi has urged the government to arm private security guards.
Speaking Tuesday after a consultative workshop for tutors from the Kenya Government School at Government Training Institute Centre in Mombasa, Mr Kaguthi said as long as registration systems are put in place, private guards can help in combating insecurity.
Citing Uganda where guards are armed, he said if any of them is found misusing their guns, their licenses would be revoked immediately.
“We believe there’s nothing wrong in arming the 400,000 private security guards we have in Kenya.
“It works well in our neighbouring country,” said Mr Kaguthi.
