Ruto tells off Nasa for linking Matiang’i with alleged rigging plans

Deputy President William Ruto has scoffed at the opposition coalition Nasa and warned its leaders to keep off Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i after they associated the acting Interior minister with rigging plans.
Speaking at Changamwe roundabout where President Uhuru Kenyatta commissioned a Sh6.1 billion Mombasa-Mariakani road project, Mr Ruto said Mr Matiang'i has every right to preside over security meetings and plan programmes to protect citizens.
"These Nasa leaders should keep off Matiang'i. They should tell Kenyans whether they are ready for elections on August 8 or not," he said.
He said the opposition should concentrate on hunting for votes from wananchi instead of wasting time on Dr Matiang'i.
"If they are not ready for this year's election they can have theirs in 2022 where they will meet me," he said.
He said that Nasa has few votes and they cannot talk of protecting them.
"You cannot protect what you don't have. If you have few votes, even if you protect them from sunrise to sunset they will not multiply," he said.
He urged voters in Mombasa to elect Jubilee leaders.
