There was panic after a truck lost control and rammed into MV Harambee ferry in Likoni on Saturday.

The truck lost control as it descended the Likoni ferry mainland inclination and hit the vessel that had docked.

The morning incident immobilised the ferry on the ramp forcing motorists on board to reverse out of the vessel before being directed to MV Nyayo.

The incident caused ferries from the island to wait midstream as they could not could dock.

The Kenya Ferry Services Operations Manager Anthony Mazungu said trucks cannot be ferried across the channel.

MV Harambee is the only vessel that ferries trucks across the channel and now it is immobilised. We are unable to transport trucks across the channel,” he said.

There have been several incidences at the Likoni channel in the past months. In some incidences, passengers have been injured as they scramble to board the ferry.
