Police release three terror suspects

Three terror suspects arrested in Mombasa have been released.

Urban OCPD Lucas Ogara said the trio were released because no evidence was found linking them to terrorism activities.

He said four others still in custody will be arraigned on Monday.

"The remaining four are still in custody. The total number of suspects who were being grilled by our detectives was seven and not eight as I had earlier told you," Mr Ogara told the Nation by phone on Sunday.

Those released were Rashid Mohamed Rashid, Faiz Hyder Mohamed and Shariffa Faiz Hyder.

They were apprehended on Friday night in Kizingo and Mtwapa and were being held at the Coast regional police headquarters.

Two of them had been deported from Turkey.

He said police were yet to establish the suspects' plans.
