The Chairman of the Kenya Muslims National Advisory Council (Kemnac) Sheikh Juma Ngao has condemned Cord’s decision to drop Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung’aro as the Minority Chief Whip in the National Assembly.

Sheikh Ngao said it was dictatorial for Cord Leader Raila Odinga and his party members to drop Mr Mung’aro for working with the government.

“World over, opposition and the governing parties work together for the development and well-being of the citizens.

The oppressive stand taken by the Cord members against Mr Mung’aro looks like a punishment for the legislator and is against democratic principles,” he said.

Cord MPs last week passed a vote of no confidence in Mr Mung’aro thereby sealing the fate of the Kilifi North MP.

The coalition accused Mr Mung'aro and a number of Coast MPs of not acting in the interests of Cord and instead siding with the Jubilee government.

WORK WITH GOVERNMENT

Sheikh Ngao called on coast leaders to unite and work together with the government saying that there were certain projects that were funded by the central government only.

“Let the coast leaders, Mung’aro, Shariff Nassir, Governor Mvuyra, Gonzi Rai among others ignore Raila’s hypocrisy. These leaders have already had dialogue with the President and are ready to develop their areas,” Sheikh Ngao said.

He said that none of the Cord principals were ready to fund projects within the constituency level and had no role to play in developing the region but were only out to cause discord.

“Raila, Wetangula and Kalonzo have no share in the national cake and they should not prevent coast leaders from working with Uhuru Kenyatta’s Government.

Raila and Kalonzo are just ordinary Kenyans who cannot give funds for development to the Senators, Governors, MPs and ward representatives from their party,” Sheikh Ngao insisted.

He pointed out that while Cord leaders called for dialogue during public rallies, they restricted elected leaders of the coalition from being close to the President.

RIDICULOUS

“This is ridiculous, Raila should let his MPs to be free to work with anyone and everyone for the good of their constituents,” he said.

At the same time, Sheikh Ngao asked Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho to back off from the historical duel between the Kenyatta and Odinga families and instead work on developing and improving the lives of Mombasa people.

“I want my Governor to swallow his pride and work with the central government. Mombasa has insecurity issues, lacks water, the Dongo-Kundu project is pending, and drug and substance abuse is also on the rise. Let him deal with these issues and avoid meddling in the 50 year contest between the two families,” Sheikh Ngao said.

Kemnac also called on Wundanyi MP Thomas Mwadegu not to accept the role given to him as a replacement of Mr Mung’aro.
“Accepting that role will make you a traitor of all Coast leaders, please work with other leaders. This should not get you excited,” Sheikh Nago added.
He advised them to remain in their parties but for the remaining time work with the ruling party.
